We Meet Between Buildings is Shuall’s first solo installation. It includes sculpture, painting and print . Shuall has worked as a carpenter for the last few years and has begun to incorporate the materials and building techniques he has used for his trade into his work. Drawing inspiration from tribal culture and nature Shuall’s work could be compared to Outsider Art as he tends to draw influence from other sources than the actual art world.

Shuall grew up in London as a skateboarder and became a sponsored professional in his twenties. He started the art collective “The Side Effects Of Urethane” which put on various shows that included skateable installations. He left the world of skateboarding in his mid twenties plagued by injury and pursued creating a clothing label called Suburban Bliss. After several years of running his own label he became dismayed with the industry and returned to making art and working as a carpenter for a living.

Toby Shuall was born in 1978 lives and works in London.
